A meeting place to give elderly and disabled - A good life

The market is changing for everyone working within government financed medical care. The government rapidly wants to change laws, rules and financial forms in order to create freedom of choice and independence. Completely right in our time - in the midst of this change we will introduce a completely new meeting place. A good life.

All Individuals shall have the opportunity to a have a good life!
A new period, with new threats or opportunities
The right to have a choice of your own, as an elderly or disabled individual is what rules in future.

It is the individual's own needs and requirements that shall rule. We will all become more personally involved in both our own and other individual's choice of medical treatment, choice of aid and services. The number of clients choosing for themselves is increasing.

From 1 client to 1,2 million
A three year trial operation began this autumn in order to allow the users themselves make a free choice of aid.
In three regions, The County Council of Kronoberg, The Stockholm County Council and The County Council of Sörmland there is a trial operation running that will be introduced throughout the country. For those of you who now only have aid centres in your client registers, a lot of new things are awaiting.

Soon you will be able to see 1,2 million clients choosing for themselves. In the year 2030 there will be that many Swedes over the age of 75.

2,8 billion
One out of ten Swedes uses some sort of aid and many of them ( about 70 per cent ) are 65 years of age or older. Almost one million Swedes, for example have reduced movement in arms and hands and need simple or advanced aid in order to live a healthy and good life. In economical terms, this means a market with more than 2,8 billion, where 1 billion comes from the sales value from hearing and eyesight centres alone. On top of this another 1,3 billion comes from sales of medical products for diabetes, ostomy etc.

A growing business, unfortunately
We become more and more healthy and we live longer. The average length of life has never been higher than it is now. Almost 79 years for men and almost 83 years for women. Therefore the need for more medical care and aid increases with age, so that every elderly individual can continue to be the person he or she is, with the interests and lifestyle that one has.

The government is investing hugely, are you ready?
The first task is the standard of living for the elderly. Today more than half the municipalities claim that they are short of apartments for elderly. There is a financial support of 500 million every year until the year 2010.

The second task is the freedom of choice, within the elderly care " A free Choice Reformation" will be introduced for the municipalities 2008, with 300 million as a first inset. Then we have the trial organization with " Free Choice of Aid" which will be introduced this year. The Aid Institute will also organize the launching of " Technical Support for elderly" with a total of 66 million until the year 2009.

A third example is the 40 million which have been especially reserved to make it possible for medical staff to take over government run organizations.

A meeting place that engages and reinforces the healthy
Just a small aid can have a huge impact for a continuous good life. A disability can then become a trivial thing instead of a major issue with the right aid or medical treatment.

But now it is we, ourselves who shall choose - or not choose that which does not fulfill our requirements. A " Dignity Guarantee" will make it clear to everyone what elderly care will offer the elderly and their relatives.

Now the "born in the 40s" will retire and we will experience a big difference
The record generation, 1,1 million Swedes is a lot of people and they will all retire during the next few years. For a lot of them this will mean a second youth period with opportunities to fulfill dreams and get some new interest going. A disability of some sort will not put a stop to these. Be sure of that. One is used to getting one´s own will and setting one´s own demands. Your client numbers will increase and have more and new demands. But also economic resources will increase.

More than just wheelchairs and walking sticks
The new life as an elderly requires more health friendly, life affirmative
and prevention investments. Both when it comes to products and services. Culture, travel, fashion, living standards will become as equally important as specialized care, treatment and technical aid.

This will create new areas of interest and markets for businesses and organizations with awareness.

Welcome to the fair A good life between the 9th and 11th of September 2009
In the midst of all this we will create our new meeting place and you are most welcome to participate. Meet decision makers, executive purchasers interested in health economics and curious users. Inform professionals with the emphasis on education, experience exchanges and personal development within their professions. Develop contacts with researchers who will present new knowledge to add to a practical reality.

Exhibitor meetings throughout the country
At our exhibitor meetings we will inform you about the seminars, workshops and various activities presented at the fair. On our website you will find further information regarding time and place.
